Specialized Care Coordination for Problemized Sexual Behavior
CASA volunteers are invited to join us for a discussion on Specialized Care Coordination for Problemized Sexual Behavior, on January 28, 2025 from 12-1pm at the Elizabeth Office.
Specialized Care Coordination is for youth who have been impacted by and/or exhibiting problematic sexual behavior. The training will discuss what normative sexual behavior is versus problematic sexual behavior, how youth are exposed to sexual material, how the SCC referral process works, and the treatment that the youth can receive.
Volunteers will learn:
- About identifying problematic sexual behavior from normative
- How to refer a youth to the SCC services
- About treatment and evaluations
Know and Tell
CASA volunteers are invited to join us for training on preventing, recognizing, and reporting child abuse, presented by New Jersey Children’s Alliance on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 6-8:30pm at the Wayne Office, or on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 6-8:30pm at the Union County Colleen Fraser Building, 300 N Ave E, Westfield, NJ 07090.
This 2.5-hour interactive training will provide participants with the knowledge and confidence needed to protect and help a child victimized by abuse and/or neglect get the appropriate support.
Volunteers will learn:
- About the legal definitions of neglect, physical, psychological, and sexual abuse, and the NJ state laws on reporting
- How to recognize signs of child abuse as well as warning signs of grooming and online danger
- How to be aware of steps that adults can take to keep children safe from abuse
- How to recognize the barriers to reporting, and how to overcome them
- When and how to make a report to the Child Abuse Hotline (State Central Registry)
- About the child protection system in NJ – including Child Advocacy Centers, Multidisciplinary Teams, and other stakeholders
CASA Volunteer Round Table Discussion Groups
NEW for 2025! We will be hosting a series of Round Table Discussion Groups for CASA volunteers!
Join a rotating team of Advocacy Supervisors for a group discussion of topics that may be relevant to your advocacy work. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and to learn from your peers as well as from an Advocacy Supervisor.
January and February Round Tables:
Babies and Toddlers, Birth to age 3 – January 16, 2025 from 6-7pm at the Wayne office.
Communication with Professionals – February 25, 2025 from 6-7pm at a private home in Westfield (details sent after RSVP)

This training series addresses normal sexual behavior in children in addition to exploring cautionary and problematic sexual behavior (PSB) that children may display.
